Anti Lithic
What is an Anti-lithic?
These herbs help to prevent the formation of stones in the urinary system and can help remove those which are already formed.
How Anti-lithics Work
The exact mechanism for many of these herbs is unclear. However, most seem to either work by “dissolving” stones, or helping the body to remove those capable of being passed by promoting urine flow, thus flushing the kidneys and bladder.
Herbal Examples:
- Eupatorium purpureum (Gravel root)
- Betula alba (Silver birch)
- Apium graveolens (Celery)
- Hydrangea arborescens (Hydrangea)
